VATICAN ANALYST SAYS POPE BENEDICT ON VERGE OF IMPLEMENTING REAL LITURGICAL REFORM

Vatican City, Jun. 30, 2006 (CNA) - Vatican analyst, Sandro Magister, of the online magazine “L’Espresso” says in an article to be published soon that Pope Benedict XVI will implement real liturgical reform in his upcoming Apostolic Exhortation on the Eucharist.

Magister bases his analysis on an interview with Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith, Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, published in the French Catholic daily, “La Croix.”

He says that while the 15 cardinals and archbishops that make up the Synod council have already presented their recommendations, “It’s the Pope who will have the last word.” Magister predicts there will be surprises “from Benedict XVI himself, who has very clear ideas on topics such as the Eucharist and liturgy. And he is very critical of some aspects of the post-conciliar liturgical reform.”

The Brothers Catholic Ep. 4 - Lee's in the Netherlands!

Hello everyone and welcome to The Brothers Catholic Episode 4! Thanks to our beautiful modern Internet technology we are able to bring you this show simultaneously from both sides of the globe! Lee is in Utrecht in The Netherlands and Paul is at home in beautiful southern California. We keep this show short and to the point - topics include Lee's experiences in European churches, the recent meeting of Pope Benedict XVI with the head of the SSPX, and the mending of the recent verbal fued between Isreal and the Vatican.

I warn you, this is the worst produced show to date. Just setting up a time for us to be able to do this being that we're thousands of miles apart was tough enough, and I'd rather get this show out in the open than wait a few days until I have the time to properly edit it, not to mention a couple drop outs out on the trans-continental voice connection. Sorry in advance! We were so rushed we didn't even leave our contact information. For those who want to e-mail us it's thebrotherscatholic@gmail.com

God bless and happy listening!

The Brothers Catholic Episode 3 - Christian marriage, music and the liturgy, and more...

In The Brothers Catholic episode 3 we are joined by Rachael, The Brother Paul's future wife. We discuss such topics as Christian marriage, music in the liturgy, and a few other topics as Lee prepares for a trip to Europe. We promised to make this under 30 minutes but unfortunately I did not meet the requirement (sorry Fr. Anderson!). Maybe next week! Pax Domini.

A new cast we're doing - the Catholic Resource Cast!

Hey everyone!

Just a quick blog-only post to let everyone know that I (Paul) just started a new podcast, also Catholic themed, called the Catholic Resource Cast. This podcast is in association with St. Joseph Communications and the Catholic Resource Center based in Covina, CA - they're been in business for over 15 years and have built up just an incredible library of Catholic talks on tapes and cd, and they have graciously allowed me to release their products as a podcast once a week! I look forward to providing great Catholic talks from some of the most renowned Catholic speakers, theologians, and apologists of our time. And the best part is that everyone can download them for free!

You can check out the site at http://catholicrc.blogspot.com - and the feed for the podcast is http://feeds.feedburner.com/crc. The first week's cast includes a talk form Fr. Bill Casey titled "The Devil: Father of Lies". If you haven't yet heard Bill Casey speak you really must. I have tried adding it to the iTunes podcast directory but it has yet to be officially accepted and listed on there, but hopefully it will soon. Hope everyone enjoys, and God bless!

The Brothers Catholic - Episode #2

In this week's episode The Brothers Catholic take a look at the recent controversy regarding Cardinal Christoph Schönborn's op-ed piece in the New York Times about the theory of evolution and the Catholic Church. We also wonder why there isn't more evening daily masses and confession in Catholic churches and why Holy Days always get bumped up or pushed back to Sunday. Paul tries to wrap his brain around German umlauts and Lee talks about his daily mass going experience. All this and more on The Brothers Catholic Episode 2.
